Celebrating Pride Month

This month kicks off Pride Month in the United States. Celebrated each June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York, which catalyzed the gay rights movement, this month-long event brings together the LGBTQ+ community and its allies to recognize and celebrate the impact LGBTQ+ people have had worldwide.

This year at Kontoor Brands, we are celebrating Pride Month by supporting organizations that raise awareness for issues facing the LGBTQ+ community.

In partnership with our LGBTQ+ Inclusion for Everyone (LIFE) employee resource group, employees at our Greensboro headquarters had the opportunity to participate in a t-shirt design contest. The winning design will be featured on t-shirts which will be available for employees and Greensboro residents to purchase during the month. All proceeds from the sale will go to support the Guilford Green Foundation, a local organization that advocates for equality and inclusion for LGBTQ+ communities.

Additionally, our Lee® brand is partnering with illustrator and lettering artist, Kyle Letendre. Throughout Pride month, Kyle will use their unique storytelling design to educate about LGTBQ issues on Lee's social media channels. Lee also will make a donation to support a LGBTQ+ nonprofit organization. The Wrangler® brand is making a donation to support ILGA World, a non-profit advocacy group focused on LGBTQ+ justice and equity, in coordination with a global PRIDE Collection available on Wrangler.com.

Pride Month is just one of the many ways we are working across our company to advance a more inclusive workplace and community as part of our Inclusion & Diversity strategy. We look forward to sharing more about this initiative and the progress we’ve made against our goals.
